Police arrested a man accused of killing a tribal couple in Chinarajapuram village of Kotturu mandal. Investigators said the crime was connected to unfounded suspicions that the couple practised witchcraft. A special police team traced the accused after he allegedly fled from the village. Police also began conducting awareness programmes to discourage superstition-related violence in rural communities.

Srikakulam district police arrested five people in connection with an armed robbery at a jewellery shop in Palasa-Kasibugga. The gang allegedly entered the shop while impersonating GST and police officials, threatened the staff and escaped with gold ornaments. Police recovered gold, cash, vehicles, firearms and ammunition valued at more than ₹49 lakh. Two additional suspects were reported to be absconding.

Kasibugga police arrested two suspected interstate burglars accused of committing property offences in Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts. Police recovered gold, approximately 20 kilograms of silver ornaments, ₹1 lakh in cash and a motorcycle. The total value of the recovered property was estimated at around ₹80 lakh. Investigators said the suspects identified locked houses during the daytime and targeted them at night.

Police uncovered the alleged murder of a young woman in Sorligam village of the Tekkali area after her death was initially presented as a cardiac arrest. Her body had reportedly been cremated before questions were raised about the circumstances of her death. Police arrested three family members and began investigating allegations of murder and destruction of evidence. The case came to light after information and digital evidence were shared with the authorities.

The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment, while officers registered a case and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the children’s deaths.
